If you were following the Tabby Diaries last year, you'll know I fell in love with kite flying. Well, I bought myself a new one yesterday and there is a really nice wind outside, so I'm hoping by the time I get home it'll still be perfect kite flying conditions. It would be nice to have it windy tomorrow too, but I'm not sure what I'll be doing (other than sleeping, 'cause I have the weekend off).

Yay, I get to go home for the day! Now let's hope that I go to bed before midnight tonight. Maybe then I won't be so tired tomorrow morning.

Two nights in row now I've fallen asleep trying to watch Casablanca. I love the movie, and I just got it on DVD. Urgh. The thing that surprises me is I've always wanted to see the movie in its original format, and as it turns out that format is pretty much the standard television ratio. That shouldn't surprise me because they didn't really start making movies wider until they had to start competing with television.
Oh well, might give it another try tonight. If not, I'll wait until my days off.

Despite all my bitching about my roommates' dog, when he got away yesterday and went missing for a few hours, I got very worried. Yes, despite doing my best, I've managed to get attached to the mutt. Luckily some he went up to some kids who were taking him to a nearby fire station and my one roomie saw them when she was out searching. Phew.
I tell you, that's the great thing about pet fish. They rarely if ever make a break for it.

Ugh, I'm tired. I worked until 12:30 tonight, and last night worked until midnight. That in and of itself isn't a problem, but I had the series finale of X-Files taped for when I got home, as well as the season finales of Survivor and The Simpsons. Tonight it's the series finale of Ally McBeal that's waiting for me.
Speaking of Survivor, I was really disappointed with the results last night. I was happy that the two finalists were women, but it would have been so much better if at least one of them wasn't a massive hypocrite. Tammy's speech when the jury was questioning them just rocked. Now I'm more pissed that she was kicked off when she was. Oh well. It's not as bad as the first one when Richard won. I don't think I shouted "FUCK!" so many times in a row in my life.

I was going to start up a whole new Blogger ID when it came time to change over to my new website, but then it occurred to me that if I keep "tabbyjungle", it'll save me a whole heck of a lot of work with the archives, so screw it. I'm keeping "tabbyjungle", but it will be at BlogSpot instead of iVillage.

I can't believe I'm actually getting attached to a fish, but when I'm not at home I miss Charlie. It may just be that he's new and the novelty may soon wear off, but that's not for sure.
It was a great weekend off. Friday I did nothing (even though I was woken up early by my work asking me if I could come in, and they already filled the shift while I was on hold calling back). Saturday I took one of my roommate's girls to the art gallery, something I've been promising her for a while now but it kept getting postponed, so I wanted to make sure that was done. Then we went to a movie, Big Fat Liar, where I got to see her face light up when I asked for the tickets (she had no idea we were going to see a movie after the gallery). It was a great day. Those are nice to have every so often.

I've decided to try my hand at the whole pet thing again. I've tried cats a couple of times and neither one worked out, I don't really care for dogs and my roommates already have two, so I went and got myself a fish. A really pretty little betta I've named Charlie. The thing about betta bowls is that some of them are really small, so small there isn't really room to swim (literally). That's one thing I wanted to avoid, so I went and got a decent size bowl. Now he has lots of swimming space on a nice quiet shelf away from the kids and dogs.
I'm going to try and see what kind of pictures I can take of him. The bowl distorts a lot, so I'm not going to hold my breath, but if I can get some good ones, I'm going to work on some art based on the fish. That'll make for a nice little series on the new site if I ever get around to finishing it.

Whoo hoo! I got my autographed picture of Russell Johnson yesterday! I'm thinking after I'm finished with Gilligan's Island, I might go for the old Batman television show. Hey, why not keep themes going?

Ugh, I'm working day shifts. This means getting up at 5:30 am. I usually go to bed at that time, so you can imagine how I'm feeling right now. I was actually in bed before midnight last night. Now that's just wrong.

Something I've really started to notice when I started taking pictures with the digital camera is how orange the city is at night. Yes, it makes for some interesting lighting, but doesn't leave room for much in the way of other colours. At least that's not an issue with white lights. I wonder why it is that way. Didn't street lights use to be white? Now they're all orange, and everything they light is orange. I took some photos of our legislature building the other night, and even most of those lights are orange.
Of course there has to be a reason, and I'm sure that if I was to put the effort into researching it, I could find out why. But I'm just not that interesting in the answer. If anyone reading this knows, please, e-mail me or click on Comments below and let me know, but that's about the extent of my curiosity. Now I just have to wander out into the orange night and go home.

Oh, you have no idea how badly I'm craving a chocolate milkshake right now. I won't be able to get one tonight, but I'll stop and 7-Eleven on my way home and pick up some chocolate milk and ice cream. Not exactly what I'm needing, but it'll have to do. I'm going to have to enjoy this while I can until I have to get my own apartment; a job with money enough to treat myself when the cravings arise. Gotta love it!

Some good news! The cold is finally going away! Some more good news! The camera's working fine now, I'm looking forward to taking lots of pictures!
Well, today I ordered an autographed picture from The Professor's site. That's right, Russell Johnson of Gilligan's Island fame. I already have Bob Denver's, and I hope to get Dawn Wells' (Mary-Ann) next. This isn't something I'd ever thought I'd do, but so many of the stars I remember from childhood are dying. If I'm going to do it, I'd better do it now. I was going to order one from Robert Urich's site, and I waited too long for that (and it's so horrible that he died so young, especially since it seemed he was getting better).
There were a handful of celebrities I wrote to requesting an autographed photo, but that's not something I like to do. I prefer when they offer them for sale, because then I know I'm not bothering them. Of course the problem there can be the price. George Carlin's goes for $95.00 US, and Patrick Macnee can set you back $125 US for a colour photo from The Avengers (luckily I prefer the B&W, and those are $60, or I could get a recent colour 8x10 for $50, that is, if I ever decide to order). Not that I fault them for such prices. It does take up their time, and the more they had to do, the longer it would take. And a little extra money later on in life, well...

I still have this damned cold and it's really starting to wear on me. The weekend off, I rested for two days straight, and nothing. Any time it wants to go away, I'll be happy.
Well, I can't say I rested the entire time. I did get a fair amount of work done on the new website. I'm still not completely happy with the look of it so I still have some stuff to do there. This is going to be my biggest and best project to date, and I want to be as happy as I can with it before it goes online. Now if you'll excuse me, I've gotta head home. I'm sneezing like crazy right now. (And I'd better disinfect everything when I'm done. I didn't sneeze on the computer or keyboard or anything, but when it comes to colds and flu, it's always a good thing to do.)

Yes, I have been at work the past few days, but I've been sick with a nice little cold so I've been going home as soon as I've been done. I'm not staying late tonight either. Just a couple of things online then I'm outta here. I did have to make sure to get on here so you can all start feeling sorry for poor, under-the-weather me...
