As of this writing, Stephen Harper's Conservatives have missed their dreams of a majority in parliament by just eleven seats. Just eleven friggin' seats short of a national nightmare. What the hell is wrong with us, Canada?!?! The Tories are a disaster with their ugly environmental record and no plan that will make any difference at all, their cuts to programs that help the poor, their cutting of women's programs, their slashing of funds to adult literacy programs, and all this hand-in-hand with their tax cuts to corporations and wealthy Canadians.
I'm sick to my stomach at these results. I knew going into this that no matter how ridiculous it is to give them power that they would still form the government anyway, but to increase their representation like this?
Look around! We are seeing the disastrous results of right-wing economic policies! ARGH!
Then there is Alberta. As always, I really hate living here. There is one bright spot, Edmonton Strathcona, that is looking good to go to the NDP right now by the skin of their teeth. Other than that, nowhere else in the province was even close. Welcome to the conservative armpit of Canada.
Sorry, I'm just really pissed off right now.

Hey asshole! Your turn signal is neither a suggestion nor a decorative accessory!

I was actually going to leave it at just the above line, but here's the thing... It pisses me off when people don't use the turn signal because it buggers things up when I'm trying to be nice to them. Where I live, where I work, it's all nicely situated so that I pretty much can walk anywhere I need to go on a regular basis. As a pedestrian, I realize that it takes me longer to cross a street than a car would take.
So what do I do at intersections where I have to cross twice (say, from north to south then east to west) and there is a car waiting to go as well? I look at its turn signal. Whether it's blinking or not will determine which way I cross first so the driver doesn't have to wait.
Because of this, it friggin' pisses me off when I don't see a blinker so cross parallel with the car only to see it turn behind me. ARRRRRGH! You're not just being an asshole when you don't use your turn signal, you're breaking the friggin' law!
Don't think for a moment that just because I'm usually a pedestrian that I don't know how to drive. I can drive. Because of this, I know how conveniently placed the turn signals are placed by the steering wheel of most motor vehicles. It's just one little flick of the fingers and CLICK FRIGGIN' CLICK CLICK!

Now that I'm actually posting in my blog again (hooray) I'm tempted to redesign it. I'm quite proud of the unique look it has right now and the work I put into it, but frankly it was made with 800x600 monitors in mind, and if you're looking at this on anything bigger, especially a wide screen monitor, you'll know how it's pretty much just a stripe down the middle.
If I do change it, I may try to keep the theme of cheesy old movie going unless something else comes to mind, but it will be a while before I worry about it. It's still readable and I still like it and that's what's important.
There, I talked myself out of changing it anytime soon, and if you've read this, sorry for boring you with that.

I really hate it when my so-called "seedless" grapes are not that seedless at all. Yes, I am sitting beside a bunch of "seedless" grapes that so far have had seeds in every single one. That's just false advertising.

Before I start, a disclaimer: Not every dog owner is an asshole. If this doesn't apply to you because you don't engage in this behaviour, then it doesn't apply to you. If you're pissed off anyway because you feel you're being unfairly lumped in with people who do engage in this behaviour, you're still an asshole, but for different reasons.

Dog owners who take their dogs for walks and let their dogs poop on sidewalks but don't clean it up... STOP IT, YOU INCONSIDERATE ASSHOLES! Do you personally enjoy stepping in dog shit? Probably not. Walking a minefield of canine turds is not fun for anyone, and getting it all over one's shoes is a lot less pleasant that CARRYING A FRIGGIN' PLASTIC BAG AND PICKING UP AFTER YOUR STUPID PET!!!
What is wrong with you? It is laziness? Is it the nasty idea of picking up and carrying the feces of the mutt you absolutely had to have despite your unwillingness to assume the responsibilities that come with getting a pet?
Or are you so enamoured with the flea-ridden mongrel that you think the crap smells like roses and will love it as much as you love your little pooch? Newsflash - we don't.
Whatever's the case, there's something wrong going on inside your head. You definitely lack the most basic of decent behaviour to fully integrate into civilized society.
Harsh, perhaps, but you're the one who's not cleaning up after your friggin' dog, asshole.

The president of the Canadian Subsidiary of BushCo., Stephen Harper, wants to form a majority government through the election this month. Now it just so happens that I live in that rarest of locations, a riding in Alberta that isn't a lock for the Conservative candidate. So despite how badly the Liberals have pissed me off by giving Harper the opening to form a government in the first place, even though it's currently a minority, I'm going to be voting for the Liberal candidate for Edmonton Centre anyway as he has the best chance out of the non-Conservative choices here. If I lived south of the river, I'd be happily voting for the NDP candidate there as she has the better chance of toppling that particular Tory incumbent.
Damn your incompetence, Paul Martin! You allowed this to happen!
