Damn, I needed that rest. Not that I rested for my entire holiday. For four days I volunteered at the Fringe Festival, which turned out to be a bad idea considering the stress I was under at work, but I made the committment so I had to go. Maybe next year I'll wait until I'm on holiday to see how I'm feeling. They need volunteers like crazy, so it's not like I'll be waiting too long. As it was, I didn't even see as many plays as I would have liked because I was just that tired.
Last Friday I went out to my parents' place to get the last of my stuff out of storage. It's nice to have real plates and cutlery again and not having to eat off of my plastic picnic dishes. I found stuff I was looking forward to getting out again, and came across things I completely forgot about but was happy to see. It was like finding lost treasure. It was more work than I needed though, and I still have boxes to unpack. We timed it right though, because 10-20 minutes later and I would have been unloading the truck VERY quickly as it started storming very quickly, with lots of rain and hail.
The last week was good though. I didn't leave the apartment unless I absolutely needed to, I do need to eat after all. I slept, I watched television (except Days of Our Lives, pre-empted as it was by the damned Olympics), and played on my computer (got back into Morrowind in a big way). Did I have time to write? Yes. Could I be bothered? No, I needed to relax.
That's over now and I'm back at work. Happy happy me. I'm already looking at more six day work weeks and one day weekends next month, though at least my first two weekends are two day events. I have no idea when the schedules will settle down at this point, but if this continues on well into the new year it'll give me incentive to go job hunting. If I can find the time. If I can't find a job that pays me more. This is the best paying job I've ever had, and I don't want to give up that money. It's nice to have a little left over by the time the next payday rolls around. It's nice to have money in a savings account that stays in the savings account.
