Hey, happy August! I know, nothing to be that excited about, but I have my holiday coming up. I need it after all the hours I've been working. Two days off July 1 & 2, two days off July 30 & 31, and three days off total in between. I did get a phone call at home on Thursday after I got home and pretty much just sat down ready to enjoy my long weekend (and yes, two days counts as long after past couple of months) asking if I might be able to work Friday, but I told them that wouldn't be good for anyone. I was so looking forward to the two days off that if I had to cut it short for work, I would have been a major bitch to work with. Then I turned the phone off and enjoyed two full days of blissful peace.
Well, except for when the fire alarm went off in my building Friday night, but that's okay because I was craving a snack anyway so that gave me an excuse to run to the store.
So I have one more one day weekend before my vacation, but at least this time it comes between five day stretches instead of six day ones. I'm somewhat refreshed and ready to go. And hopefully write as well! Thank you to anyone who does read this who has stuck through a dry July. I don't know if I have any regular readers left, but people are still checking out this wee blog o' mine so thanks to those of you who do.

One small comment on the Democratic National Convention... I didn't watch too much of it because being a Canadian in Canada means I'm not allowed to vote in the presidential election (or for the Last Comic Standing, damn you NBC!) so I didn't want to give up that much time to it, even though I so very, very much hope that John Kerry is the next President of the United States. I did however catch a good chunk of Bill Clinton's speech when I was looking for something to watch and was so glad I stumbled onto it. He was funny, smart, charming, invigourating, and damn it, made me want to vote for him. No wonder conservatives hated him. You know what? He was also downright sexy. Daaamn, I wanted to take him on that podium.
He stood in sharp relief to the barely literate, barely thinking, never witty dullard currently occupying the Oval Office right now. If John Kerry could give a speech like that, he'd blow Dubya away come November. Come on, John, you've got the smarts and the war record. Take Shrub apart in the weeks to come and in the debates!
