I just came to a realization. I've been having discussions and arguments online since 1990, the good old dial-up BBS days, and you know what? I'm tired of them. I'm tired of doing the research to really tear apart someone's arguments, I'm tired of writing out paragraph after paragraph of the same old stuff over and over, and I'm tired of ripping someone apart with words when they start to get personal. This used to be something I was really good at, but the spark is gone. I've been finding myself getting into arguments lately against punks I would have walked all over without breaking a sweat at one time and just looking bad because of some lazy research or half-assed comeback.
Damn it, I just don't want to do it anymore.
On the bright side, I go back to work Tuesday morning. Yay.

I went down to the Fringe Theatre Festival tonight to see a play. Didn't get to see the one I wanted to see, it was sold out, so I took my chances on one I didn't know much about. It was a bit of a muddled mess, the Irish accents were often pretty bad, but it still made me laugh and a song and a voice brought tears to my eyes. Damn, I love live theatre.

Wow, have I been bad for updating recently.
I had no idea how worn out work had really made me. I'm on vacation right now, and for the first three days I left the apartment once to buy some groceries. I've seen only one Fringe show so far, and did my first ever live poker tournament yesterday (my luck ran about as well as I expected, but I still went out with a pretty good call). Even those I had to force myself up and out for.
I'm going to have a couple of holiday days left over once I go back, so I'm going to make sure I have more than one long weekend before I take holidays again next August.

I don't know what happened yesterday, but as I was getting ready for work I really fucked up my back. I was in such agony that it took me between five to ten minutes just to turn around on my bed to reach the phone behind me and call in.
It was bad. I had some painkillers sitting out across the room, about four feet away once I sat up but they might as well have been four miles away. What was I going to do if I had to go to the bathroom? Luckily I went before this happened, but that wouldn't last.
The good news is I did get some mobility back later so could get up and move around a bit, though it did hurt. Later on my friends came by to give me a ride to the doctor, another concern because that was a walk I wasn't looking forward to. Not that I didn't feel every bump on the road. Ow.
So it turns out I pulled or strained a muscle (the doctor talked pretty fast), and now I'm on anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxants. I was able to come to work today, but I'm still alternating between pain and a lot of discomfort. It's changing from moment to moment, but damn it, I'm a trooper and will see this day through.
