Okay, sometimes bad things happen that turn into very good things. For example, today was supposed to be another Women's Improv Jam. I love them, they get the creative juices flowing (even if it is time I could be using to blog Grease or Survivor over on Realivision). Yay me getting out of the apartment!
So I got to the facility, and something wasn't quite right. There was a man's voice coming from the room, and three of the women I improvise with were standing in the hallway. Huh?
It turns out to be a double-whammy. First, the room was double-booked. A play that was shortly going to go on tour needed to rehearse. On top of that, thanks to some cancellations on our end, we were short enough bodies for a decent jam (six is the ideal minimum, four just wouldn't be enough).
Oh crap. And I took a cab for this.
All was not lost. We were invited to sit in and watch the rehearsal, and it was close to the end of their rehearsal schedule so it was a complete run through. I don't know the name of the play, but it was a two-man show, and one of those men was Chris Craddock who is one of the names in Edmonton theatre.
The likelihood that I'll ever get a chance like this again, to see a play in such an intimate venue (it's just a freakin' room) with an audience of four? Yeah, it was worth there being no Jam this month!
