I had the most incredible experience on my way home yesterday. Sitting right outside my building was a jackrabbit, which I see all the time but usually running around or farther in the distance. Wanting to see if it would let me take a picture, I took out my camera phone because they're not normally this still this close to me.
It was fairly quiet around the homestead, so I changed my mind slightly. I still wanted the photo but my camera phone is crap. Instead I wanted to use the good one, the Canon.
Grabbing my camera and the memory card (it would have been all so very pointless without that), I went back outside and the hare was still there, though not for long. The first picture I was able to get was this one - click here.
I wasn't about to give up. Even if I'd only get more action shots, I was going to photograph this bunny one way or another so I followed it around the corner. Sure enough, it was there sitting still again.
This is where it got amazing. I approached slowly and got closer to it than I ever have to one of these before. I was able to get a LOT of pictures. Sure, most of them look pretty much the same but that's beside the point. I'm left wondering how close I could have got if I was careful, or how many different angles I could have tried, but just moving around to the other side seemed risky enough. Hey, I was please with what I got.
Close up picture.
Second close up.
